ClimateLaunchpad - The Global Green Business Ideas

2021.06.23

ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest green business ideas competition. Its mission is to unlock the world’s entrepreneurial cleantech potential to address the climate change issue. This competition sets up a stage for those green ideas propelling them towards the real business that makes a difference and creates a green economy.

Participating teams pass a crash test of their projects, learn how to finance and launch green ideas, gain access to a network of potential investors and partners. Intensive training in a boot camp and a series of training sessions to prepare the teams for the National Final are waiting for the participants. The National Final winners will represent Ukraine in the Regional and Global Finals. In addition, they will compete with hundreds of teams worldwide for a cash prize and a place in the Climate-KIC acceleration program.

ClimateLaunchpad has been promoting the growth of Ukrainian green startups since 2016. The competition has helped more than 60 Ukrainian technology entrepreneurs refine their business models and inspired hundreds of future green entrepreneurs.

12 Ukrainian finalists have reached the Grand Final. Two of them have got into the Top 16 and were included in the Climate-KIC accelerator. In addition, some ClimateLaunchpad Ukraine graduates have raised venture capital or participated in other acceleration and grant programs. The most prominent ClimateLaunchpad participants are:

  • Carbominer, a project that has found a new solution for obtaining CO2 directly from the air and its direct delivery to the customer’s greenhouse without any storage. Last year, the project attracted investment from the Ukrainian venture fund SMRK.
  • Effa, which produces environmentally friendly disposable household goods for HORECA, last year announced a $ 500,000 round from an angel investor.
  • GoTo-U is a platform that connects business locations with charging stations and drivers of electric vehicles who can charge their cars for free while using the services of the locations. Today the company operates in 43 countries.
  • TOKA today has one of the largest networks of charging stations for electric vehicles in Ukraine.
  • GreenBin has developed a mobile application that allows exchanging plastic bottles for products or discounts in stores. Today, the company is successfully conquering the Polish market, and last year won the PowerUp2020  national final  — the largest competition for startups in Central and Eastern Europe.

The call for Ukrainian participants is open until midnight on July 4. Apply here: https://climatelaunchpad.org/application-form/
