The town of Tomaszow Mazowiecki is located in central Poland, on the river Pilica. It is the administrative center of Tomaszów County, Łódź Voivodeship.
The settlement on the site of present-day Tomaszów Mazowiecki was founded in 1788 by Count Tomasz Ostrowski when iron ore was found here. In 1824 the place became a commercial and industrial settlement. The city received the Magdeburg right in 1830. In 1885 the city was connected to the railways. The city was one of the most important centers of textile production near Łódz.
Before the First World War in Tomaszow Mazowiecki lived 40 thousand inhabitants. One of the city's landmarks is the Church of Christ the Savior, which in 1903 was solemnly consecrated as an evangelical Lutheran house of prayer. The town became the center of the county in 1919 after the restoration of the Polish state.
Today the city's population is 65,7 thousand inhabitants. City area - 41,7 square meters.
Economy: production of artificial fibers, woolen fabrics, carpets; sewing, food industry.
