    Nanning is a county town with a population of 6.9 million, an economic, administrative and cultural center in the southwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. At a distance of 160 kilometers from the border with Vietnam. The total area is 22,293 km. The city is located on the north bank of the Yun River, mainly in a tributary of the Xijiang River. It is the political, economic, transport, scientific, educational, cultural, medical, financial and information center of the region. The city is a permanent venue for the China-GCHAR exhibition in Beybu Bay. One of the main cities of the economic zone and serves as a national "Transport Belt" of organic communications. Nanning is known as the "Chinese Green City" and has been awarded the "UN Habitat Award", the "National Civilized City" and the "National Ecological Garden City". The annual International Folk Song Festival in Nanning is known both at home and abroad, and as "a place where people love the world."

    Nanning is a multinational city with 50 ethnic groups, including Zhuang, Han, Yao, Miao, Yi and Hui. There are three ethnic settlements in the city.

    Nanning is located in the subtropical zone. The relief is characterized by mountains, hills, the average height of which is 76.5 m. The climate is mild, the rainfall is high, and the average annual temperature is 21.7 degrees Celsius. The level of green cover in Nanning is 47.66%, and the level of green areas in the built-up area is 37.12%.

    The city is located in the area of ​​scenic landscapes of the Qinxiu Mountains and Daming Mountains. There are nature conservation sites in the city: the Guangxi Botanical Park, the Lanfencian River Forest, the Lin Geyser Spring, Minshu Park, the Golden Aromatic Tea Park, and the Phoenix Lake Recreation Park. There are more than 200 cultural heritage sites. The most significant sights in the upper part of the city are the Ruins of Beitsu Mount Dinshishan, the Ruins of Kunluguan, the Ancient City of Yanmei. Nanning also has the Guangxi Museum and the Center for Relict National Cultures. The city has a Nanning Zoo.

    The city of Nanning is administratively divided into 7 districts. Nanning has six high-tech and industrial development zones (Guilin High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Nanning Economic and Technological Development Zone) and other state-level development zones.
