#NEF Innovative product in the energy audit market: how NEF helped to launch a new service

2023.11.22

One of the formats of business support within the New Economy of Ivano-Frankivsk is in-depth consulting.

That's how we got to know the Adamson company – they asked for advice in the format of Quick Business Assistance and became participants in the program of in-depth consulting from experts in business modeling, sales strategy, communications and strategic marketing. As a result, an effective communication and marketing strategy, validated and developed solutions for entering the product market, pricing, communication have been created.

The company's new product is a service Adamson NEX – unique in the energy efficiency market. It can be considered a "niche" product, as it was created for a certain range of specialists, but the product's technological capabilities bring it into the market of innovative developments that have a significant impact on the energy efficiency market. This is an innovation in the market for energy audit services.

After a conversation with the deputy director of the Adamson service company Mykola Stashko, we tell you what is the innovation of the solution, what were the obstacles and problems during the process, and when the product will appear on the market.

      Company and product idea:

Mykola, tell us more about the company and the product idea. How did you find this "blue ocean", how did you understand that there is potential here?

Adamson – is a service company that provides customers with energy efficiency services: conducting energy audits, developing certificates, etc. I have been responsible for the energy audit since 2017 and am responsible for the Adamson NEX product.
In 2018, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a new Law on Energy Efficiency of Buildings, which introduced a new concept - a "certificate of energy efficiency of a building". This is a document that defines the energy efficiency class of a building and other additional useful indicators. It indicates how energy efficient the building is and how much energy it will consume. For example, in Europe, when buying and selling or renting a home, such a certificate is attached to the contract. It details how much energy housing will consume, and thus people choose which housing will be more profitable.

In 2019, when the energy audit certificate program was just launched, Adamson made 15% of all certificates in Ukraine. A company from Ivano-Frankivsk had such an indicator in the market. We were the first to work with it.

Now in Ukraine, in order to form such a certificate, it is necessary to conduct a number of calculations in accordance with the current legislation and regulatory documents and upload calculations for obtaining a certificate in the Unified State Electronic System in the field of construction.

Previously, we used to make calculations in Excel. It was quite difficult, cumbersome, it was necessary to transfer data from different tables. When we started submitting the first certificates in this format and conducting their verification, one of our certificates failed. There were various types of errors: incorrectly transferred data from tables, calculation errors. It was in 2019, and it was my certificate that failed the test. I wondered what I could do about it. Foreign programs-analogues work well, but in general are not adjusted to Ukrainian norms and requirements. Competitors developed similar products, but it also looked outdated and ineffective.
