The impact of parks on physical activity
As part of the project “City Parks Matter - a new approach to urban greenery management in Ivano-Frankivsk and Rzeszów” (ParksMatter)’, we are studying how the availability of high-quality parks stimulates physical activity among residents. Access to spacious green areas motivates people to move more, play sports and spend active leisure time outdoors.
In Copenhagen, more than 40% of people use parks for daily jogging or walking. In Barcelona, the availability of well-equipped sports areas in parks has led to a 25% increase in the popularity of outdoor activities among young people. Parks are also actively used for mass sports events that attract both locals and tourists.
The project envisages the creation of modern sports areas in the parks, which will promote a healthy lifestyle and engage residents in active recreation. It is planned to install outdoor exercise equipment and workout areas, which will help promote sports among residents of all ages. In addition, the renovated infrastructure will give impetus to regular sports events in the parks, which will become a great tradition for the city.
