2021.04.22

Within the framework of the RO-UA Partnership for Climate Change Mitigation project, we inform you about events that are being held at various levels to draw attention to environmental issues. One of these events is the celebration of International Mother Earth Day. World Earth Day is celebrated annually around the world on April 22. On this day, various events and educational activities are held in different parts of the world to draw people's attention to global problems on Earth.

Concerned organizations and people hold various flash mobs and events dedicated to responsible consumption, environmental issues, etc. Many exhibitions, conferences, and actions are organized to block traffic on busy streets of megacities, clean up garbage, and plant trees. Environmental events usually take place not only on April 22, but for at least one week.

Every year, experts from around the world gather at a roundtable to discuss global environmental issues. In addition, it is customary to ring the Peace Bell, which calls on people to pay attention to the beauty of the planet and the need to protect it. Every year the UN dedicates International Earth Day to a specific theme. This year, Mother Earth Day is celebrated in the Year of Biodiversity. The theme of this year's Earth Day celebration is: "Restore Our Earth".

The project «RO-UA Partnership for Climate Change Mitigation» (RO-UA PART4CM) project is financed by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument and co-financed by countries participating in the ENI CBC Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020 Program «Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020».
