#SmartTour Kick-off meeting to launch the international Smart Tour project: Ivano-Frankivsk among Europe's smart destinations!
On 21-22 May, the first meeting of the Smart Tour project partners took place in Heraklion (Crete, Greece): Smart Tourism - Smart Destinations, which is being implemented as part of the Interreg Europe programme. This ambitious European project brings together nine countries to develop sustainable, accessible, digital and culturally rich tourism for the future.
The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Investment Policy, Projects, International Relations, Tourism and Promotion of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, which is a partner of the project, as well as the Municipal Enterprise "Centre for City Development and Recreation" as one of the key stakeholders of the project at the local level.
The program of the event included the presentation of international partners, a coordination meeting, discussion of the work plan, financial management, communication strategy, as well as thematic seminars. Particular attention was focused on two key topics: Collaborative governance of tourist destinations as a tool for partnership, community engagement and the development of tourist ecosystems, and Coordinated management and updated information on travelling with a focus on innovation, digital solutions and the provision of reliable information to travelers even in crisis situations. Participants shared their experiences on joint management of tourist destinations, crisis communication, digital solutions for travel, sustainable development, and new formats of tourist mobility.
Ivano-Frankivsk became Ukraine's single voice in this international dialogue. We presented our experience of developing tourism in the context of full-scale war as an example of resilience, adaptability and faith in the future. The city demonstrates that even in times of turbulence, tourism can be a platform for unity, culture and community support.
