#CULTROUTE Ivano-Frankivsk through the centuries: start of European Heritage Days

2026.09.04

On 3 September, a press briefing was held in the City Hall’s dungeon regarding European Heritage Days in Ivano-Frankivsk as part of the ‘Thematic Castle Route 2’ (CULT.ROUTE) project, implemented by the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine cross-border cooperation programme.

During the event, a packed programme of events was presented, which will take place from 9 to 11 September and will bring together history, culture, art and contemporary creative formats.

The programme includes:

- the first closed screening of the neo-opera ‘HAMLET’ in the City Hall’s dungeon — a contemporary musical production combining modern direction with various musical genres;

- a forum on the preservation of cultural heritage at the Potocki Palace;

- theatrical tours entitled ‘Along the Ancient Paths of the Modern City’;

- a tour of Halych Castle and jousting matches;

- a festival at the Potocki Palace featuring musical performances, exhibitions, plays, living sculptures, archery and tastings of traditional dishes from the ethnic communities.

A special place in the programme is occupied by the City Hall’s dungeon, which, thanks to the project, has been fitted out with new technical equipment — a stage platform, sound, lighting and projection equipment. From now on, this historic space will be able to serve as a modern cultural and artistic venue for plays, concerts, performances and other artistic events.

As part of CULT.ROUTE, a theatrical tour route has also been developed, running from the Potocki Palace to the City Hall. Six tours have already taken place, attended by over 150 people.

From 9 to 11 September, we invite citizens and visitors to Ivano-Frankivsk to join the European Heritage Days and discover the city together through its history, architecture, art and cultural traditions.
