#CULTROUTE Stanislaviv comes alive: the first tour through the streets of the past

2025.10.20

On Friday, 17 October, the first tour was held as part of the project “Thematic Route of Castles 2 (CULT.ROUTE)”, implemented within the Interreg VI A NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine programme.

It was not just a walk through the city, but a meeting with Stanislaviv’s past, full of legends, dramatic stories and the magical atmosphere of the ancient city. Participants had the opportunity to embark on a real trip through the centuries to see what Ivano-Frankivsk used to be like and how the spirit of antiquity still lives in its streets.

The tour began at the Potocki Palace, the place where the city's history began. It was here that participants learned about the Potocki family, their contribution to the development of Stanislaviv, and the famous guests who had visited these walls. The trip continued to the former monastery of the Trinitarian Order, the Museum of Carpathian Art, the old building of the medical university, and the colourful Neptune bathhouse. Step by step, participants discovered new pages of history, learned about architectural gems and little-known facts that make the city unique. The route ended in the dungeon of the Town Hall.

This event was the first in a series of six thematic tours prepared as part of the CULT.ROUTE project. It marked the beginning of a series of tours that will allow citizens and guests of Ivano-Frankivsk to discover their city from a new perspective and experience its authenticity.
