#CULTROUTE Along the Ancient Paths of a Modern City: A Performance Tour with Live Actors Took Place in Ivano-Frankivsk

2026.05.11

On May 7, Ivano-Frankivsk hosted the atmospheric tour performance “Along the Ancient Paths of the Modern City” as part of the “Thematic Castle Route 2 (CULT.ROUTE)” project, implemented under the Interreg VI A NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine program.

It was not just a city tour, but a true trip through time, during which participants were able to immerse themselves in the past of ancient Stanislaviv, feel the atmosphere of the ancient streets, and hear the legends and stories that have lived in the heart of the city for centuries.

The tour began at the Potocki Palace — the place where Stanislaviv once took shape. It was here that participants were greeted by historical figures who seemed to have come to life from the pages of the past. Guests had a unique opportunity to speak with Kateryna Kosakovska, who spoke about the struggle for women’s rights, the opening of the first school for girls, and her life in the city at that time.

Stanislav Potocki shared memories of his childhood in Stanislaviv and his educational journey through Europe, while Franciszek Karpiński spoke about his studies at the college and interesting adventures connected with the city. A special atmosphere was created by the appearance of Ivan Franko, who shared his impressions of Stanislaviv, memories of literary evenings, love, and important events connected with the city.

During the tour, participants strolled through the historic streets of Ivano-Frankivsk, discovering little-known facts, architectural gems, and stories that shape the city’s unique character. The event concluded in the mysterious basement of City Hall, where history and legends intertwined to create a single atmospheric performance.

Thank you to all participants for your genuine enthusiasm, interest in the history of your hometown, and for joining us on this journey into the past.
