#CULTROUTE Ancient paths of the modern city: one more tour into the past

2025.10.27

On October 24, one more exciting tour was held as part of the project Thematic Route of Castles 2 (CULT.ROUTE)”, which is implemented within the Interreg VI A NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine programme.

The participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the past of ancient Stanislaviv: they visited the residence of the city's owners, the Potocki family, learned about the Catholic orders that left their mark on its history, and uncovered the secrets of the construction of the city fortress by Andriy Potocki. At the same time, they found out which of the churches is the oldest in our city.

The culmination of the event was a meeting in the dungeons of the City Hall, where the legend of the “ghost of the City Hall” - the opryshky leader Vasyl Baiurak - came to life. Among the ancient walls that preserve the breath of past centuries, Baiurak's story emerged not only as a tragic page of the past, but also as a symbol of the struggle for justice and freedom of ordinary people.
