#CULTROUTE Where history comes to life to the ringing of swords

2026.09.14

As part of European Heritage Days and within the framework of the “Thematic Route of Castles 2” project under the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine program, a tour was held to Halych Castle — one of the most important symbols of historic Halych

Participants toured the grounds of the ancient fortress, learning more about its history, architecture, defensive significance, and the events it has witnessed over the centuries.

And the real highlight was a demonstration of knightly combat.

Medieval armor, the ringing of swords, spectacular duels, and the atmosphere of a real knightly tournament transported the participants back several centuries. Here, you don’t just hear about history — you see it in action.

Events like these offer a chance to view cultural heritage in a whole new light: not as something distant and frozen in time, but as living history that you can feel, see, and experience together.
