#CULTROUTE Final trip through the streets of old Stanislaviv
On November 7, the final trip was held as part of the“Thematic Route of Castles 2 (CULT.ROUTE)” project, which is implemented under the Interreg VI A NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine programme.
The participants set off on a final trip through the streets of old Stanislaviv to rediscover its secrets hidden behind walls, legends, and the names of those who shaped the city's history. They “overheard” the secrets of the Potocki family, hidden in the walls of the palace, learned why so many monks were invited to the city - and why they were later expelled. Descended into the dungeons of the City Hall - former prison cells, where, according to legend, the shadows of the past still echo.
The highlight of the trip was a meeting with colorful figures from the city's history: the most famous burgomaster, Ignacy Kaminskyi, and the extravagant Hanna Vermut. Kaminskyi, who ruled Stanislaviv in the second half of the XIX century, is remembered as a reformer and a true enthusiast of urban development. It was during his reign that the city was actively modernized, and education, culture, and public initiatives developed.
They told the story of the events of September 28, 1868, when Stanislaviv found itself at the epicenter of dramatic events - and even marmalade played a role in this story.
This final trip was a great way to end a series of tours where history comes alive right before your eyes - in the people, events, and legends that shaped the old city.
