#EdAH 3D Modelling and Digital Technologies in Art

The fifth workshop of the "Educational-Artistic Horizons beyond the Borders ”(EdAH)”  project has successfully taken place. The project is implemented within the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine 2021-2027 program with the support of the European Union.

During the workshop, participants explored the operating principles of modern digital fabrication equipment and gained practical insights into the application of 3D modelling technologies.

Participants learned about the capabilities of a laser engraver, the materials suitable for laser engraving and the requirements for their preparation. They also mastered the basic functions of software used to create and edit design files, with particular attention given to file preparation and equipment setup.

The practical session focused on three-dimensional models that participants had previously sculpted from clay. These models were digitised using a 3D scanner, then processed and prepared for fabrication.

After completing the file preparation stage, participants produced replicas of the models using a 3D printer and a laser engraver. They compared the finished pieces with one another and with the original clay models, evaluating the accuracy of the reproduced shapes and fine details.

The workshop concluded with a discussion of the quality of the produced samples, an analysis of the achieved results, and an exchange of ideas on how to further improve future creative and technology-based projects.

Such hands-on workshops contribute to the development of digital competences, creative thinking, and practical skills in working with modern technologies, opening up new opportunities for arts education.
