#EdAH Game as a Form of Dialogue: A Workshop for Teenagers with Mariia Leonenko
On March 15, a workshop for teenagers took place within the School of Contemporary Art — part of the project “Educational and Artistic Horizons without Borders (EdAH)”, implemented within the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine 2021-2027 program with the support of the European Union.
The session was held in the format of a research-based game, where participants explored themes of conflict, roles, and public discussion.
During the game, teenagers created objects that became starting points for further conversations and debates. Together with the artist, they chose roles, topics, and formats of interaction that helped them explore different positions and ways of engaging in dialogue.
The workshop also included elements of performative play: participants changed roles, interacted through clothing, and created situations that opened up new ways of thinking and discussion.
Mariia develops this format in her artistic practice, particularly in the project “Negotiation Table” (2023–2024), where similar game-based structures were used for dialogue and the exchange of perspectives, including with foreign diplomats.
