#HealthCities BIVA Talent Day: Linking Young Talent and the Business Ecosystem
As part of the project “Health and Life sciences industries’ growth through cities alliances (Health Cities)”, implemented within the Interreg Europe program, we are presenting European good practices that help cities systematically develop human capital, retain talent and strengthen links between education, business and knowledge-intensive sectors of the economy. One such practice is BIVA Talent Day, implemented in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Spain) ????????
BIVA Talent Day is a comprehensive tool for developing a local talent ecosystem that brings together young professionals, senior students, innovative companies and employers within a targeted, city-led event. The initiative creates direct dialogue between labour market demand and supply, enabling businesses to identify skilled and motivated candidates while helping young people better understand real market needs and career opportunities within their city or region.
The practice is particularly relevant for the healthcare and biomedical sectors, where interdisciplinary skills, innovation capacity and close cooperation between research, education and business are essential. By fostering partnerships between municipalities, educational institutions and companies, BIVA Talent Day contributes to the creation of a sustainable ecosystem in which talent is retained locally and integrated into innovative and research-driven environments.
This experience demonstrates how city policies can move beyond one-off events towards systemic solutions for human capital development, innovation support and long-term competitiveness. Such approaches are fully aligned with the objectives of the Health Cities project and represent a valuable basis for mutual learning and knowledge exchange among European partner cities.
