#HealthCities Second stakeholders meeting within the HealthCities project
On February 13, 2026, the second stakeholders meeting of the project “Health and Life sciences industries’ growth through cities alliances (Health Cities)”, implemented within the Interreg Europe program, took place in Ivano-Frankivsk. The event brought together representatives of the city, the educational community, and the medical and innovation community to discuss how to systematically develop the field of life and health sciences at the local level.
During the meeting, participants discussed the project's goals and the role of Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as focusing on the practical experience gained during a study visit to the city of Sant Cugat del Vallès in Spain. This case study served as an example of how a city can be an active player in shaping the healthcare and biomedical sciences ecosystem - not only as a regulator, but also as a partner for business, science, and innovation initiatives.
Particular attention was paid to how Sant Cugat builds cooperation between the municipality, universities, research centers, companies, and innovation spaces, how it supports talent and startups, and how the city creates conditions for the development of medical and biotechnological solutions. These approaches formed the basis for a discussion on which elements could be adapted to the context of the Ivano-Frankivsk community, taking into account its needs, resources, and potential.
The meeting ended with an open dialogue and networking session, during which participants exchanged ideas and visions for further steps within the project. It is precisely such meetings that help transform international experience into practical solutions for the city's development and shape a shared vision of the future healthcare ecosystem.
