As part of exploring the best European practices in healthcare and life sciences development within the “Health and Life Sciences Industries' Growth through Cities Alliances (Health Cities)” project, implemented under the Interreg Europe programme, we continue to highlight successful initiatives aimed at creating attractive and supportive environments for international professionals, researchers, and entrepreneurs.

One such best practice is the Utrecht International Center – a specialised information and service centre in the Dutch city of Utrecht, created to support international professionals moving to the region for work, study, and professional opportunities.

Relocating to another country often involves numerous administrative and practical challenges. Utrecht International Center therefore helps international employees and their families access information and services related to registration, housing, employment, and adapting to life in a new city.

The Centre also plays an important role in strengthening the region's international and innovation ecosystem. Attracting talented professionals from different countries contributes to the development of universities, research institutions, technology companies, and other key sectors, including life sciences and healthcare.

A key strength of this practice is its integrated approach to supporting international talent. By combining information services, administrative support, and assistance with integration, the Centre helps make the region more open and attractive to highly skilled professionals from around the world.
