#HealthCities First meeting with stakeholders in Ivano-Frankivsk
On 9 July 2025, the first meeting with stakeholders took place at the Diia.Business space at Promprylad.Renovation as part of the international project Health Cities “Health and Life sciences industries’ growth through cities alliances”, implemented within the Interreg Europe programme.
The event brought together representatives of local government, medical and educational institutions, businesses, scientists and civil society organisations.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the Health Cities project, outline the challenges faced by the Life Science & Health (LSH) sector in the Ivano-Frankivsk community, and discuss ways to develop the ecosystem with key stakeholders.
The participants were welcomed by Ihor Popadiuk Director of the Department for Investment Policy, Projects, International Relations, Tourism and City Promotion. Head of the Project Implementation Office Lidiia Cherevko presented the project's goals, stages and international partners, budget, as well as the expected results for the community and the value of the project for stakeholders. The discussion was moderated by Olga Maksymovych, Director of the Academic Analytical Centre ‘Carpathian Institute of Analytics ’FrankoLytics", who conducted a session on the analytical review of the life sciences ecosystem in the city.
The main sections of the event were
- Analytical review of the current situation in the LSH sector: personnel, service volumes, resources, scientific potential, investment climate
- Presentation of a territorial assessment: key data, trends, problem areas
- Discussion platform for ecosystem assessment: discussion of hypotheses, development vision, SWOT analysis
HealthCities is not just a project, but an attempt to give new impulse to the development of the medical and biotechnology industry in the region. Its main goal is to create a modern ecosystem that will promote:
- the growth of biotechnology start-ups
- the introduction of innovations in healthcare
- the expansion of the medical services market in small and medium-sized cities
- the attraction and retention of qualified specialists.
Ahead are study visits to partner cities, learning best practices, improving policies, and supporting startups.
The event ended with networking — exchanging contacts, thoughts, and shared ideas for the future.
