#HealthCities National Growth Fund programs Life Sciences & Health

2026.07.27

As part of exploring the best European practices in healthcare and life sciences within the "Health and Life Sciences Industries' Growth through Cities Alliances (Health Cities)" project, implemented under the Interreg Europe programme, we continue to highlight successful initiatives that foster innovation, strengthen life sciences ecosystems, and promote collaboration between public authorities, academia, healthcare providers, and businesses.

One of these inspiring examples is the National Growth Fund Programs – Life Sciences & Health. This large-scale Dutch initiative supports innovative projects in healthcare, biotechnology, and medical technologies through the National Growth Fund, which invests in projects with strong potential for long-term economic growth and societal impact.

A key strength of this initiative is its long-term investment in innovation. The programmes support the development of advanced therapies, personalised medicine, digital health solutions, medical technologies, and state-of-the-art research infrastructure. These investments help accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical practice and make innovative healthcare solutions more accessible to patients.

In addition to improving healthcare services, the programmes stimulate the growth of the life sciences sector, create highly skilled jobs, attract investment, and strengthen the international competitiveness of the region.
