#IFSynergy How does SMART water supply help save resources?

We are used to thinking of water as something that simply exists. It flows from the tap, there is enough of it for all our needs, and it seems endless. But every drop is part of a complex system that requires energy, infrastructure, care and responsible management. And, unfortunately, in many cities, some of this water simply disappears. Due to old pipes, unnoticed leaks, or inefficient management, tens of percent of the resource is lost. This is water that could serve people - but it is lost before it even reaches our homes.
Modern cities such as Barcelona and Krakow have long since opted for SMART water supply. There, water is under constant digital surveillance. Technology not only allows problems to be identified quickly, but also enables them to be prevented before they occur. This means millions of litres of water saved, lower energy bills, fewer accidents and, consequently, lower costs for the city budget.
Thanks to the IFSynergy project, we are learning from the best. Elements of smart monitoring are already in operation in the Polish city of Siedlce. And Ivano-Frankivsk is preparing to introduce new technologies that will allow us to see the water supply system in real time, with all its changes and loads. This is a completely different level of responsibility and accuracy. And it is a step into the future, where water does not just flow, but is managed intelligently.
The project "IFSynergy – cross-border cooperation in SMART management of water supply systems in Siedlce and Ivano-Frankivsk" is being implemented within the framework of the Interreg Next Poland – Ukraine Programme 2021-2027.
