#IFSynergy European Practices: How Lublin Optimized Its Water Supply

When we talk about European experience, we often refer to cities that have successfully modernized their services. One such city is Lublin, Poland. There, the water utility has become a true model of digital transformation, where water supply management has reached an entirely new level. The city has implemented a SCADA system — a smart platform that provides a comprehensive view of everything happening in the water supply system.

Sensors detect even the slightest deviations: changes in pressure, water flow rate, and fluctuations in water quality. And most importantly, this information is available in real time. Staff respond immediately, without waiting for a minor malfunction to turn into a major failure. The result is not only resource savings but also increased trust from residents. Because people know for sure: the city’s water supply is under control.

For the IFSynergy project, this example is not just about technology — it’s about inspiration, about the confidence that change is possible. We don’t just study European practices on paper — we meet with experts, visit facilities, ask questions, identify weaknesses, and adapt successful models to Ukrainian realities.
