#INSPIRE Innovative approaches to environmental education in Europe

As part of the INSPIRE project – Inclusive and Developmental Spaces for Progressive, Innovative and Adaptive Education, implemented within the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine 2021-2027 programme, we focus on modern approaches to environmental education that combine nature and technology, and introduce the best European practices. Estonia is a striking example of where nature is combined with technology.
In Estonian schools, environmental education is integrated with digital tools. Students participate in eco-quests, keep online diaries of their observations of plants and animals, and use interactive biodiversity maps to monitor the state of the environment in their region. This approach allows them to combine environmental awareness with digital literacy. Children learn not only to observe and care for nature, but also to collect data, analyse it and draw conclusions using technology.
This practice develops critical thinking, teamwork and responsibility for the environment in schoolchildren, demonstrating that modern technology can be a powerful tool for educating a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens.
