InterCities Ivano-Frankivsk through the prism of postmodernism and heritage

2025.10.15

Today, the Potocki Palace hosted the next two lectures as part of the project "Intercultural Consciousness of Multinational Cities: Tolerance of New Generations", implemented by the Interreg VI A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine programme

Students of Ivano-Frankivsk continue to explore the topic of preserving the cultural and architectural heritage of the city. This time, the focus was on:

-The postmodern heritage of Ivano-Frankivsk - its unique features, architectural symbols and significance for the modern urban space;

-The problem of preserving the architectural and urban heritage of historic cities - how to maintain a balance between development and protection of cultural values.

The lectures sparked an active discussion among the students, ranging from questions about the role of architects in shaping urban identity to discussions about ways to revitalise historic buildings. Such meetings form not only knowledge but also a conscious attitude of young people towards their own city, its history and cultural diversity.

The final lectures are still ahead, full of interesting ideas and inspiration.
