#InterCities Ivano-Frankivsk is a city of many cultures
On 18-19 June, the Potocki Palace hosted a two-day meeting with stakeholders as part of the international project “Intercultural Consciousness of Multinational Cities: Tolerance of New Generations” (InterCities), implemented within the framework of the Interreg VI-A Next Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme.
On the first day, the participants immersed themselves in the study of the cultural presence of ethnic communities in the city and the region. They discussed which events, figures, places and monuments form the local multicultural identity. They worked with an interactive map, marking tangible and intangible heritage sites, and recalled lost or unknown places of memory.
In the afternoon, the participants created identity profiles of the communities with which Ivano-Frankivsk is connected, revealing their cultural identity, traditions and values.
The second day was a step towards the future - towards the creation of a Centre for Intercultural Dialogue in the Potocki Palace complex. The participants met in an interdisciplinary circle - representatives of the cultural, educational, and expert community, as well as representatives of different communities.
After the presentation of the Palace's development concept, the participants had the opportunity to tour the premises of one of the buildings and join a workshop on visualising the space of the future Centre: what should be its mission, functions, audience? What identity, colours, symbols should be chosen to make the Centre speak the language of openness, trust and mutual respect?
These two days became a powerful platform for dialogue, reflection and co-creation of the future.
