#InterCities Intercultural Consciousness of Multinational Cities: Tolerance of New Generations – the InterCities project was officially launched in Ivano-Frankivsk!
On April 24, 2025, the Potocki Palace hosted the kick-off press conference of the international project “Intercultural Consciousness of Multinational Cities: Tolerance of New Generations” (InterCities), implemented within the framework of the Interreg VI-A Next Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme.
Deputy Mayor Sviatoslav Nykorovych and Director of the Department for Investment Policy, Projects, International Relations, Tourism and City Promotion Ihor Popadiuk addressed the audience with welcoming speech. The project was presented by Volodymyr Haidar, Director of the Municipal Enterprise “Space of Innovative Creations ‘Palace’,” and Yulia Bavoliak, the project manager, who outlined the main objectives and expected outcomes of the initiative. Partners from Romania also joined the event and shared their expectations for the upcoming cooperation. The event was attended by Oksana Shyichuk, an expert from the Interreg VI-A Next Programme branch office in Ivano-Frankivsk, who congratulated the team on the successful start of the initiative.
The InterCities project aims to promote tolerance and intercultural awareness in the border region through the preservation and popularization of multicultural heritage. Key activities include:
- archaeological research of the Potocki Palace territory;
- the establishment of the Intercultural Cooperation Center in Ivano-Frankivsk;
- restoration of historical buildings in Sighetu Marmației (Romania);
- organization of festivals, forums, student camps, and educational events;
- development of new cultural routes connected to the Carpathian Cultural Route.
This initiative will strengthen intercultural dialogue, preserve shared heritage, expand tourism potential, and foster new connections between partner cities. The total project budget is above €457,000, with 90% funded by the European Union. Over €222,000 is allocated for Ivano-Frankivsk to support the city’s cultural development.
