The German-Ukrainian Municipal Partnership Conference 2025
The German-Ukrainian Municipal Partnership Conference 2025, which took place on 16–18 June in Münster, was an important event for strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian and German communities. This large-scale event, organised by the Municipal Partnerships with Ukraine initiative (SKEW / Engagement Global) with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, brought together more than 250 participants representing municipalities, civil society organisations and experts from both countries.
A representative of the Department took part in the conference to engage in professional dialogue, exchange experiences and jointly seek solutions for effective recovery, development of local self-government and expansion of partnership ties.
The event programme was rich and informative, featuring panel discussions, thematic sessions, practical workshops and space for presenting examples of successful cooperation. Considerable attention was paid to the role of municipalities in the processes of post-war reconstruction, digitalisation, ecological transformation, rehabilitation, strengthening democracy and supporting Ukraine's European integration aspirations. Participants had the opportunity not only to discuss common challenges, but also to lay the foundations for new initiatives and deepen existing partnerships.
We sincerely thank the German communities for their continued support, joint projects and expert assistance. Thanks to these partnerships, Ukrainian communities are becoming stronger, and our cooperation is an example of European solidarity and mutual support.
