#ParksMatter “HEALTH Picnic” in Ivano-Frankivsk
Today, 12 October, the "HEALTH Picnic" took place in the Taras Shevchenko City Park – an event that brought together schoolchildren, parents, teachers and city residents to discuss health, safety and an active lifestyle.
The picnic programme was packed with activities and highly informative. Visitors had the opportunity to get basic medical check-ups, consult with doctors and learn more about disease prevention and looking after their own health.
The event also featured a demonstration of an ambulance purchased as part of the "City Parks Matter - a new approach to urban greenery management in Ivano-Frankivsk and Rzeszów (ParksMatter)" project. Games and interactive activities were organised for children and adults, and those interested had the chance to try Nordic walking – an accessible way to stay physically active in the fresh air.
Representatives from our Department also took part in the event and presented the project «City parks matter — a new approach to urban greenery management in Ivano-Frankivsk and Rzeszów (ParksMatter)», which is being implemented as part of the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine Programme 2021–2027.
Participants at the event had the opportunity to learn about the project and the importance of developing urban parks as comfortable, accessible and multifunctional spaces for relaxation, walking, sporting activities and socialising. After all, a city’s green spaces are not only places for leisure, but also a vital component of community well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
The "HEALTH Picnic" was organised by the Programme’s Joint Secretariat Representative Office in Lviv and the regional contact point in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, in collaboration with the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council and the Central City Clinical Hospital.
