#ParksMatter | Workshop №3: effective urban greenery management - experience, tools, solutions

2025.06.23

On 20 June, the third workshop on urban greenery management took place in Ivano-Frankivsk, organised within the framework of the project "City Parks Matter - A new approach to urban greenery management in Ivano-Frankivsk and Rzeszów (ParksMatter)" implemented with the support of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027.

The main participants were representatives of the Department of Public Works and the Municipal Enterprise responsible for the care, development and maintenance of urban green spaces.

Ruslana Vasyliuk, Director of the Municipal Enterprise "Centre for City Development and Recreation", delivered welcoming remarks.

Chrystyna Melnyk presented the ParksMatter project and its key objectives, focusing on the importance of introducing new standards and approaches to the care of green spaces.

Myroslava Mylenka gave a lecture and discussion titled ‘Eco-city: Utopia or Professional Achievement’, during which the role of parks in creating safe, climate-resilient and attractive urban spaces was discussed.

During an interactive Kahoot brainstorming session moderated by Nadiia Riznychuk, participants worked on solving practical challenges in the field of greening.

The session in the LegoSeriousPlay format was of the greatest practical interest, where experts modelled possible solutions to improve interaction between services, effective park management and communication with residents.

The workshop ended with a discussion of ideas that will be integrated into the next stages of the project.

ParksMatter shows that urban parks are not just green spaces, but a holistic infrastructure that requires a professional, sustainable and technologically advanced approach to management.
