#Part4CM A few years ago, the world saw a real boom in the production and sale of electric vehicles. According to some forecasts, by 2040 the total number of passenger electric vehicles will grow

2022.01.12

The current situation is such that the use of electric vehicles instead of cars with internal combustion engines does not "green" energy consumption, but simply shifts the focus from one type of energy to another. Currently, electric vehicles that receive energy from the conventional power grid are actually supporting fossil energy. Therefore, the carbon footprint of electric vehicles is still quite large. The global transition to renewable energy sources means that solar and wind generators should become the main source of power for electric vehicles.

This is exactly the kind of charging station with solar panels that will be installed in Ivano-Frankivsk as part of the Romania-Ukraine Partnership for Climate Change Mitigation project. The combination of solar and electric charging is the key to drastically reducing the country's dependence on fossil fuels. Charging stations should become a "buffer" for the power grid. It is the presence of a network of smart charging stations with PV modules on EV chargers that will help solve the problem of generation imbalances at the local, regional and national levels and "green" the use of electric vehicles.

The RO-UA Partnership for Climate Change Mitigation project is funded by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument and co-financed by the countries participating in the ENI CBC Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020 Program.
