#ProfiSchoolUp High-quality education - better life: improving the quality of vocational education in the Romania-Ukraine cross-border area

On 10 September 2026, the kick-off press conference of the project “High-quality education - better life: improving the quality of vocational education in the Romania-Ukraine cross-border area” (ProfiSchoolUp) was held in Ivano-Frankivsk. The project is implemented under the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme.
The project brings together partners from Ukraine and Romania to support the development of vocational education, modernise educational infrastructure, and strengthen students’ practical skills in line with current labour market needs.
During the event, welcome remarks were delivered by Yuliia Bavoliak, NGO “Centre of Municipal and Regional Development – Resource Centre” (Lead Partner); Nicoleta Lăsan, Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association (Romania); and Lăcrămioara Beilic, Monitoring and Project Implementation Expert of the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme. Roman Shevchyk, Project Director presented the main objectives, key activities and expected results of the “High-quality education - better life: improving the quality of vocational education in the Romania-Ukraine cross-border area” (ProfiSchoolUp) project.
The ProfiSchoolUp project provides for:
● modernisation of the infrastructure of two vocational education institutions in Ivano-Frankivsk and partner institutions in Romania, contributing to the creation of a modern learning environment and improved conditions for students’ vocational training;
● updating curricula in line with current vocational education requirements and labour market needs;
● developing students’ practical skills and competences necessary for professional development, employment and further education;
● strengthening cross-border cooperation between Ukrainian and Romanian partners in the field of vocational education and facilitating the exchange of experience to improve the quality of educational services.
The implementation of ProfiSchoolUp will contribute to creating a more modern learning environment, developing students’ practical skills, and bringing vocational education closer to the needs of employers and the labour market in the cross-border region.
Project partners: NGO “Centre of Municipal and Regional Development – Resource Centre”, Executive Committee of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association and Sighetu Marmatiei Municipality.
