#SmartTour First stakeholders meeting of SmartTour: start of joint work in Ivano-Frankivsk

On August 22, the first stakeholders meeting of the interregional cooperation project “Smart Tourism – Smart Destinations: Accessibility, Sustainability, Digitalization, Cultural Heritage, and Creativity” was held as part of the Interreg Europe program. The event brought together representatives of local government, the tourism industry, educational and cultural institutions, and creative industries.

Ihor Popadiuk, Director of the Department of Investment Policy, Projects, International Relations, Tourism, and City Promotion, started the meeting by emphasizing the importance of joining forces to develop the community's tourism industry and implement modern destination management practices. Manos Vougioukas, representative of the European Cultural Tourism Network, welcomed the participants and spoke about the importance of international cooperation in implementing the concept of “smart tourism,” which combines accessibility, sustainability, and digitization. 

Lidiia Cherevko, head of the project implementation office of the Department, presented the goals and objectives of the Smart Tour project, emphasizing how it will help the city integrate European standards into tourism management. Uliana Basarab, Head of the International Relations, Tourism, and City Promotion office, presented the state of the tourism industry in Ivano-Frankivsk and outlined the key challenges and opportunities.

Participants discussed potential changes to the Ivano-Frankivsk Community Tourism Development Program for 2021–2025, shared experiences, and developed initial ideas for innovative solutions to increase the community's attractiveness.
