#SWEM Why is it important to monitor official weather warnings?

2026.06.03

As part of the information and awareness-raising campaign for the “Sustainable Weather Emergency Management (SWEM)” project, implemented under the Interreg NEXT Romania–Ukraine Programme 2021–2027, we would like to remind you of the importance of receiving timely information about dangerous weather phenomena.

Weather conditions can change very quickly. Heavy downpours, storms, strong winds, hail, hot weather or ice can pose a threat to people’s health, property and safety. That is why it is important to keep an eye on official warnings regularly.

Up-to-date information from the relevant authorities helps you to:
prepare in advance for adverse weather conditions;
avoid dangerous trip or spending time outdoors;
protect your home, transport and other property;
take the necessary measures in good time to ensure your family’s safety.

Trust only official sources of information, in particular reports from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. They are the ones that provide verified forecasts and warnings about potentially dangerous weather phenomena.

Being informed and reacting promptly are key to staying safe. A few minutes spent checking the official forecast can help you avoid dangerous situations and reduce the risks to you and your family.
