#SWEM More Residents of Ivano-Frankivsk Are Learning Life-Saving Skills!
On 16 July, another First Aid Training was held in Ivano-Frankivsk as part of the project "Sustainable Weather Emergency Management (SWEM)", implemented under the Interreg NEXT Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme.
During the training, participants gained practical knowledge and hands-on experience in responding to life-threatening emergencies, with a special focus on providing assistance during the first critical minutes following a sudden cardiac arrest. Quick and appropriate actions by bystanders can significantly improve a person's chances of survival.
Throughout the training, participants practiced:
- assessing scene safety and calling emergency medical services;
- recognizing sudden cardiac arrest;
- performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
- using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED);
- providing first aid in emergency situations;
- placing an unconscious person with normal breathing into the recovery position.
These training sessions not only equip participants with essential practical skills but also help build a culture of preparedness, responsibility, and mutual support within the community.
