#U_Lakes From joint plans to real change
On 22 October, a forum “Urban Green and Blue Infrastructure: From the Action Plan to Real Change” was held at the Potocki Palace Congress Centre in Ivano-Frankivsk as part of the project “UrbanLakes: Cross-Border Synergy for Blue Ecosystem Preservation”, implemented under the Interreg NEXT Romania–Ukraine Programme. The event brought together representatives of Ukrainian and Romanian municipalities, municipal enterprises, researchers, and experts in ecology and urban space management.
The participants were welcomed by Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv, representatives of Botoșani and the Interreg NEXT Romania–Ukraine Programme, Ihor Popadiuk, Director of the Department of Investment Policy, Projects, International Relations, Tourism and City Promotion, and Ruslana Vasyliuk, Director of the Municipal Enterprise “City Development and Recreation Centre.”
One of the key highlights was the presentation of the Joint Action Plan for Biodiversity Conservation and the Sustainable Management of Green and Blue Infrastructure in Ivano-Frankivsk and Botoșani. The document was presented by Nadiia Riznychuk, the curator of the document's development.
The forum programme featured three thematic sessions focusing on effective urban infrastructure management, practical tools for addressing unexpected challenges, and accessible solutions for improving green spaces. Representatives from Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhhorod, Lutsk, Lviv, Ternopil, and Botoșani shared their experiences, discussed current challenges, and explored common approaches to managing urban parks and natural areas.
The forum provided a platform for professional dialogue, the exchange of practical experience, and stronger cooperation between municipalities. Effective management of green and blue spaces is not only a matter of urban maintenance but also an essential component of environmental resilience and a better quality of life for residents.
