#U_Lakes From Theory to Practice: UrbanLakes Forum Participants Explore Ivano-Frankivsk’s Green Spaces
On 23 October, the second day of the “Urban Green and Blue Infrastructure: From the Action Plan to Real Change” Forum took place as part of the project “UrbanLakes: Cross-Border Synergy for Blue Ecosystem Preservation”, implemented under the Interreg NEXT Romania–Ukraine Programme.
The study visit focused on practical examples of managing green and environmental infrastructure in the city. Participants explored approaches to maintaining, preserving, and developing city parks, green spaces, and environmental education facilities.
The programme included three locations:
Taras Shevchenko City Park of Culture and Recreation - sustainable city park management, biodiversity conservation, and adapting recreational areas to modern environmental standards.
City Children’s Ecological Station - the role of environmental centres in protecting urban ecosystems, raising environmental awareness, and engaging young people in nature conservation initiatives.
Molodizhnyi Park - maintaining recreational spaces in residential neighbourhoods and preserving urban green areas.
These study visits provided an opportunity not only to exchange experience but also to explore practical approaches to managing urban natural spaces that can inspire new solutions in other communities.
Green spaces are more than places to relax. They are essential to urban environmental resilience, biodiversity conservation, and residents’ quality of life!
