The sixth German-Ukrainian conference "German-Ukrainian Conference of Municipal Partnerships" was held in Leipzig.
Mykhailo Smushak, Deputy Mayor, and Ihor Popadiuk, Director of the Investment Policy Department, took part in this year's conference, which took place on November 13-15, 2023 in Leipzig, Germany.
Since the beginning of the war of aggression of russia at all levels significantly increased the importance of friendly relations between Germany and Ukraine. At the community level alone, more than 100 new partnerships were launched.
The Sixth German-Ukrainian Conference of Municipal Partnerships was held from November 13 to 15, 2023 under the slogan "Together for Europe: Solidarity, Reconstruction, Future Prospects". This event on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development was held jointly by the Service Service "Cities in the One World" (SKEW) Engagement Global, and the city of Leipzig. Cooperation partners were both German and Ukrainian associations of cities and communities. This year's conference was held with the participation of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, under whose patronage there is a network of German-Ukrainian municipal partnerships and the Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Sveni Schulze.
Highly respected speakers from local, national and international level outlined the main challenges and successes in the field of German-Ukrainian municipal partnerships. The main focus was on such thematic blocks as reconstruction, integration into the EU, development assistance in emergency situations and sustainable development.
