#NEF From craftsmanship to premium-quality furniture: how a carpentry workshop works in the Ivano-Frankivsk makerspace

    Borys Yackevich is the founder of the carpentry workshop "Stoliari". 

    Boris has been working with furniture production for 4 years. Telling the story of Boris, we want to introduce you not only to his path as a furniture maker and entrepreneur, but also to the format that Boris chose for his business, namely working as a resident in an open workshop - makerspace*. That is, not in his own woodworking shop, but in a common space in which the entrepreneur rents production facilities and works with his team.

    When 4 years ago, in 2019, the METALAB urban laboratory team started creating this workshop format on the territory of one of the Promprylad.Renovation buildings, at that time it was the first such space in the city, and Boris was one of the first to join the resident team. In addition, to renting the workshop, he took an active part in filling the space and its development, so we talked not only about his business, innovative approaches and plans, but also about the role of the Ivano-Frankivsk makerspace in his activities. In the fall of 2023, the Ivano-Frankivsk makerspace will open in an updated format.

   *Makerspace is a shared workspace for crafting, prototyping, learning and research. A creative environment for creators, entrepreneurs, startups, innovators.
