With the help of Poland, internally displaced persons in Ivano-Frankivsk received the necessary assistance in renovated premises

2022.12.15

On 14 December 2022, in Ivano-Frankivsk, with the participation of the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv Eliza Dzwonkiewicz, the results of the project to support internally displaced persons were summed up, within the framework of which equipment was purchased and a series of integration activities were carried out. The project "Improvement of living conditions and integration of refugees from the territories directly affected by the Russian aggression against Ukraine in the centres for internally displaced persons in Ivano-Frankivsk community" was implemented jointly by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv and the Executive Committee of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council. Funding in the amount of over EUR 26 thousand was provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland under the Polish Aid Programme.

The project was aimed at creating a comfortable environment for IDPs who were forced to leave their homes and need material and psychological support by providing them with adequate living conditions and opportunities for integration into the local community. In particular, for the collective centre for IDPs in Ivano-Frankivsk community, we purchased kitchen equipment (refrigerators, electric stoves, electric kettles), household appliances (washing machines, dryers), boilers, laptops for children's education, portable heaters and electric generators.

The Polish side also funded a series of integration meetings between the local population and IDPs with the involvement of a psychotherapist, which were held using moderated board games. The sessions were also aimed at encouraging people to work in teams and acquire crisis management skills, and participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills.
